Sliding doors, encountered under the name "CUPE" are a real solution when you want to have a wardrobe on the entire lateral cavity. Sliding doors are also used when you have a special space for wardrobe "Dresser",  with shelves for clothes. Both sliding doors are made of laminated chipboard (cheaper version), as well as from MDF or glass mat (most expensive option).
